Venice Surrounding Area

Bibione

This is one of the most popular resorts on the northern Adriatic coast with tourist facilities to match. Bibione has 8km of fine, sandy, south-facing beaches, with a shallow slope into the sea offering safe bathing for children. There are many commercial stretches of beach, on which parasols and sun loungers can be hired. Between the commercial beaches, there are also public areas, where no payment is necessary.

Every conceivable form of water sport is on offer, as is riding, cycling and hang-gliding. Lists are available from the agency or the tourist office. The mineral-rich sea water and the fresh, salty, iodine-rich sea air guarantee a healthy, rejuvenating holiday. Additionally, the resort offers a newly built spa centre in which to enjoy Bibione’s natural thermal spring water.

Lido di Jesolo

Jesolo is one of the most famous resorts of the upper Adriatic and is situated on a 15km long peninsula between the green hinterland and miles of flat, fine, sandy beaches. There are many shops including souvenir shops, bars, pizzerias and many discos. In July and August music, theatre and other events take place several times weekly. The numerous sport and fitness opportunities and the large bathing area of Aqualandia provide a diversion for children and adults.

Vicenza

A city of great architecture, famous for the magnificent renaissance palaces of the master builder Andrea di Pietro, known as 'Palladio'. Especially worth seeing are the mighty basilica on the Piazza dei Signori, the 'Teatro Olimpico' (the earliest covered theatre of our era) and the famous Villa la Capra (the 'Rotonda'), which served as a model for many palaces and stately homes in England and France. However, even in spite of Palladio, Vicenza pales somewhat in comparison to Verona.

Verona

If you have time for a day trip then you must visit this wonderful city with its lovely central square. This is the home of Romeo and Juliet and the famous balcony still exists in a small courtyard off a street in the central area. Park somewhere in the city centre and visit the arena which still the best-preserved Roman amphitheatre in existence. Not far from here, in the church of San Francesco al Corso one can visit the legendary grave of Juliet. You could wander through the shopping street in the direction of Piazza delle Erbe, and from here proceed to the beautiful Piazza dei Signori, also known as Piazza Dante.
